About George
Conservatives tend to focus on core principles that are viewed as absolutes and anything less is rejected immediately. For example, Fiscal Responsibility means that you can never spend more money than you bring in. The problem there are very few opportunities for dramatic change in politics. You do not go from a $3 trillion dollar deficit this year to a balanced budget next year. As a practical necessity, we need to push for as much progress as possible when the opportunity arises. Holding out for the perfect solution means we leave potentially huge gains on the table. The reforms needed change the school funding process, to protect children from indoctrination and gender confusion, eliminating the huge corporate welfare while maintaining productive growth are all complex challenges that will require continuous improvement and not idealistic absolutes.
Our goal is to advance cost effectiveness, quality, safety and performance as much as possible, as fast as possible. This may mean settling for a less than ideal interim solution. Our metrics for success are progress toward goals not an all or nothing scorecard. We need to bring pressure from as many informed citizens as possible to give us the momentum to achieve long term success.
