Born in January of 1929, Martin Luther King’s life and work spanned some of the darkest moments of America’s history. His objective was summed up in his August, 1963 speech at the Lincoln Memorial. Referred to as the “I Have a Dream” speech, King described the challenges of the African American experience. King cited the promise of the founding of America which, if fully realized, would secure equality for all citizens.

King’s speech should be read completely (see here). The following quotes are personally inspiring:

And so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal."

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

I have a dream today!

Martin Luther King faced the “difficulties of today and tomorrow” by maintaining a hope “deeply rooted in the American dream”.

We face historic challenges today: high inflation and taxes, open borders and sadly, racial division. Politicians have strayed from the actual core of Dr. King's message with their embracing of "equity" instead of "equality". By forcing outcomes based entirely on "color of their skin" as opposed to the "content of their character".

I am running for Ohio State Representative for the29th District because today’s difficulties cannot be avoided or denied. The solution, as always, is rooted in the American dream where innovation and personal initiative are the path to success for each individual and our community at large.

We need your help!
